
The Game Boy Color version of Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare received a relatively faithful adaptation of the home console game. The cartridge-based format necessitated the removal of the full-motion video cutscenes present in other versions, and many gameplay areas had to be reduced in size, with some eliminated entirely. However, the basic pre-rendered environments and the 3D characters imposed on top of them remain.
